Swim Wales Virtual National Awards 2020

Welcome to the 2020 National Awards, here is your opportunity to nominate.

Nominations will open on Tuesday 27th October and will close Monday 23rd November 2020 4pm. All nominations will be scored based on the submission of the written nomination.

When submitting your nomination, we also encourage you to submit a supporting video detailing the suitability of the candidate, this should be 30 seconds to 1 minute long. In the event of the nomination winning this video will be used to celebrate during the awards, and offer a chance to highlight their achievements.

To qualify for an award all evidence must fall with from 1st September 2019 to 31st August 2020 (with the exception of the Outstanding Contribution award).

The categories are:

Swim Wales Young Volunteer of the Year

The young volunteer of the year award is open to young people aged 23 and under, who have made a significant contribution to their club, centre or community throughout the year.

Swim Wales Volunteer of the Year

The volunteer of the year award is open to people aged 23 and over, who have made a significant contribution to their club, centre or community throughout the year.

Contribution to Diving

This award recognises a Swim Wales member who is involved at any level of the pathway across all aspects of Diving who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

Contribution to Water Polo

This award recognises a Swim Wales member who is involved at any level of the pathway across all aspects of Water Polo who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

Contribution to Artistic Swimming

This award recognises a Swim Wales member who is involved at any level of the pathway across all aspects of Artistic Swimming who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

Contribution to Open Water Swimming

This award recognises a Swim Wales member who is involved at any level of the pathway across all aspects of Open Water Swimming who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

Contribution to Masters Swimming

This award recognises a Swim Wales member who is involved at any level of the pathway across all aspects of Masters who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

Swimming Teacher of the Year Award

Recognising the outstanding contribution and commitment of a swimming teacher, they must be delivering lessons in one or more of the four frameworks in Learn to Swim Wales (Bubbles, Splash, Wave, Nofio Ysgol or Skills) and show evidence of innovative ways of delivering Learn to Swim sessions. (Nominees delivering and assessing at least one element of Learn to Swim Wales)

Club of the Year Award

Here you can nominate for club of the year. The shortlist for club of the year will be decided by the Swim Wales Performance Team, Regional Development managers and events team, to establish which club has made the biggest contribution to Welsh Aquatics in the 2019/2020 Season and then presented to the Swim Wales Awards panel. Nominations can be based on event participation on a regional and national level (volunteers/officials), club competitors and achievements, coaching and general club conduct.

Outstanding contribution to Aquatics in Wales

This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise that one person you know who has contributed significantly to Aquatics in Wales and has demonstrated the passion and commitment in inspiring our nation to enjoy, participate, learn and compete in Welsh Aquatics.
