Swim Wales is delighted to announce that Swim Narberth has become the latest Swim Wales Learn to Swim Accredited Provider, a great achievement for swimming education in Pembrokeshire and becoming the first swim school in Pembrokeshire to achieve the award.

This recognition underscores Swim Narberth’s commitment to delivering high-quality swimming instruction.

In 2013 the pool was on the brink of closure from Pembrokeshire County Council due to financial pressures, but dedicated locals came together to form the Friends of Narberth Pool. Determined to preserve this essential community asset, they took over its operations and formed Swim Narberth CIO, officially becoming a registered charity in 2015. Through fundraising, they strive to improve the facility, with inclusivity, accessibility and sustainability at the forefront of planning. As part of the revitalisation, a biomass boiler system was introduced with installation of Solar Panels, an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution to sustain operations. Today, the pool serves as a vibrant hub for children’s swimming lessons, open sessions, and even pool parties.

The management expressed their excitement and pride in achieving this milestone. Swim Narberth Chairman, Chris Walters, stated:

“Swim Narberth is absolutely delighted to having achieved the accreditation. The accreditation shows our commitment to providing excellent swimming lessons and proving we follow the strict guidelines in regards to quality, safeguarding and training our staff adhere too. I would like to thank all staff for their support in achieving this accreditation from Swim Wales.”

The charity is dedicated to serving its surrounding communities, and this accreditation highlights its work in providing children and adults in Pembrokeshire with access to high-quality swimming lessons.

Hanna Guise, Swim Wales National Learn to Swim Manager, commented “being awarded Accredited Provider status recognises that Swim Narberth is aligning to industry practice guidelines and is integral to supporting the realisation of our vision of ‘aquatics for everyone for life’. Swim Narberth are working hard to provide quality opportunities to their local community and the accreditation confirms this commitment.”
