Super Series Stage 1
Stage 1 of the Swim Wales Super Series finished October 23rd, regrettably two days earlier than planned due to the Welsh Fire Break. This did not however deter our clubs, and they reminded us all that the determination and commitment pays off.
34 clubs submitted times in stage 1, this included 1067 swimmers and 5090 races, a truly fantastic achievement-making stage 1 as big as the Swim Wales Summer Open (our largest national competition)! This accounts for 22% of our currently active membership and I am delighted to say the event welcomed swimmers from each of the categories of events; Age Groupers, Masters, Para Swimmers and Para Guests (non-classified disabled swimmers).
We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped bring Super Series to life. This includes coaches, volunteer, officials, swimmers, parents, facilities, site managers and many others-you have all played your part and provided a much needed sense of ‘normality’ for all swimmers. So if you haven’t heard it yet, thank you!
Stage 2 is due to commence on the 23rd of November. In consultation with all clubs, it has been decided to extend the window of competition, from 1 week to 2 weeks, meaning stage 2 will run from Monday the 23rd of November until Sunday the 6th of December. This extension has been granted to ensure as many swimmers as possible are able to access this opportunity.
It’s not too late to take part! Clubs can compete in any or all of the Super Series stages, it is here for your swimmers when you are ready to join.
