Ian has sadly passed away at home on 10th February 2021.
Ian was a member at Abertillery Piranhas Swimming Club for many years coaching children and young people sharing his passion for the sport.
Ian will be remembered for organising and leading the way for the clubs first ever training camp abroad, the club members travelled to Fuerteventura.
Ian trained as a Disability Classifier and was a joint Meet Director representing the club for The Greater Gwent Open Meet. A wonderful ambassador for Aquatics.
Ian was known for ‘nagging’ those whose paths crossed with him, his family have posted the following on his wife’s social media page;
For those that knew Ian through swimming and can remember how much he nagged you all to "rehydrate" it would be a lovely gesture if you could "rehydrate" at 2.30pm on Monday and think of Ian. You could even have one of those "unhealthy" treats he'd complain at you for having but loved so much himself....especially chocolate brownies.
For those that knew Ian as a colleague or friend please join and "rehydrate" and snack.
A swimmer has asked if anyone has a whistle blow it as hard and loud as you can, we all know how much he loved his whistle.
His funeral is on 22/2/21at 2.30pm at Sirhowy Valley Crematorium. Due to COVID restrictions attendance is strictly limited so please don't attend.
Family flowers only, donations can be made to Spaniel Aid Uk (he loved his girls) or the British Lung Foundation.
Swim Wales offer their sincere condolences to Ian’s family and friends.
